Annatto
Annatto
Annatto is an orange-red condiment and fabric dye derived from the seeds of the achiote tree (Bixa Orellana). Fabrics are often dyed yellow or orange with this dye. Tropical America is the main habitat of Annato. An orange-yellow dye is derived from the reddish arils covering the seeds.
Color: Vibrant Yellows to Orange Reds
Dye Material: Bixa Orellano
Natural dyes can be used to color cloth and fibers in a sustainable fashion. Natural dyes stand for the idea that imagination, talent, what we produce, how we dress, and the natural world are all interconnected. We hold genuine beliefs that a connection to history and culture can be made via color, as dyes demonstrate.
