Gallnut
Gallnut
Gallnut is found in an Oak tree, it produces Oak Galls- a defence against insects which lay their eggs in punctures they make on weaker branches. Once harden, the tannin rich gum from the tree becomes gallnuts. Naturally this dye produces darker colours such as greys and black but with Iron it saddens the colour even more with darken effect.
Color: Warm Beiges to Caramel Brown
Dye Material: Oak Marbal Galls
Natural dyes can be used to color cloth and fibers in a sustainable fashion. Natural dyes stand for the idea that imagination, talent, what we produce, how we dress, and the natural world are all interconnected. We hold genuine beliefs that a connection to history and culture can be made via color, as dyes demonstrate.
